Reopened since September 29th, the glacier of Grande Motte welcomed once again ski aficionados. The big snow falls of last few days brought 40 cm of powder! A good omen for this winter season 2007 – 2008 and its not-to-be-missed events! Ready for this new winter season in Tignes?

Tignes is well known in the sport circle to be THE training centre in altitude for high level teams. After the football and the French team, after the rugby and the Stade Français (2007 champion), now boxing's getting the « Tignes Attitude »! And his representative is the « petit prince » of the French ring, Brahim Asloum, Olympic champion in 2000 in Sydney. From October 1st to 15th, the champion is in the resort to put a finish touch to his physical training for his next fight on December 8th in Cannet (France). Tignes wish him a year full of successes!

Two little months... It's time people will have to wait on the glacier of Grande Motte before being able to ski on the entire ski area of Tignes and Val d'Isère. Opening is expected for December 1st 2007. Obviously, everybody's waiting for plenty of fresh snow, to have it all over the tips!

On December 13th will take place in Tignes the first stage of the Mogul Ski World Cup 2008. Surprised by big snowfalls last year, snow which couldn't be shaped in time, the resort is now prepared for this year, in order to repeat the beautiful exhibition of those ski acrobats of December 2005.

You wished for it? Tignes makes it real! After Tom Snare in 2007, it's not just one but two of the biggest DJs who will be in Tignes to celebrate New Year's Eve 2008! Martin Solveig & David Vendetta get ready to mix! The Djs will perform before and after midnight and will draw more than 15 000 people on the snowy dance floor of Tignes le Lac. Who can say they have already danced on « Something better » or « Break for love » in an open nightclub at an altitude of 2100 m with his feet in the snow? Maybe you...

In the US, they have the X-Games. In Europe, we have the Tignes Airwaves! With a prize-money of 150 000 € and stars like the Atherton brothers in MTB, Enak Gavaggio in skiercross, Loïc Collomb-Patton in freestyle ski, Aurélien Ducroz in free ride ski, or Danny Torres in motocross, the Tignes Airwaves has no cause to be jealous of the American version. From January 7th to 11th 2008, pipe, big air, skier cross, free ride, and others... what a program! New this year, you will be able to see girls jumping on the ski cross for the first time in Tignes. As each year, accommodation is offered by the resort for holidaymakers (see special conditions on the website www.tignesreservation.net)!

For this 2008 edition, the Freeride World Cup organised by the IFSA give way to the AFP World Tour. Few changes in the event program: this year, no more qualification runs, the 44 best freeriders of the world will get together for an only run by stage. After North America, Russia and Switzerland, the last stage of the AFP World Tour will take place in Tignes on May 2008! With crazy prize-money on each stage and one car for the Big Champ' of the Tour, it's an important issue for those amazing freeriders.
